Slime moulds

Ever noticed weird looking patches appear in your garden, especially on mulch - almost like a a giant prehistoric bird dropping?! Welcome to slime moulds. They are not really fungi, but have previously been lumped in this Kingdom.

Here are a few pictures over three days.

The yellow sticky mass of cells actually move across the ground like a sentient creature, seeking out food.
